Since Germany isn’t really known for its amazing Asian food (with the exception of a handful of cities) we didn’t expect too much when visiting Mala Town. But boy was it good. You pick your own ingredients from a variety of stuff (great mushroom selection), hand it over to the staff, pick a broth and spiciness level (be aware, it’s really spicy if you are not a regular spicy-eater) and then basically wait for your soup to get cooked. What you should know: It’s self-service. The staff is very friendly. It’s probably not the cosiest place you’ve been to. The labelling of allergens is - like most German places - a catastrophe. My boyfriend ist gluten-intolerant and didn’t have any issues after eating their soup, but if you really are coeliac I would be very careful. And last but not least: If you are like me and your eyes are often bigger than your stomach (and your purse), be aware of this place Or let someone more responsible choose your ingredients

Top! I've been to here several times already. This is indeed an authentic Malatang 麻辣烫 Chinese cuisine. Especially considering this quality in a city like Bochum is good enough. I was impressed by the great variety of options of foods and real mala soup base option :) p.s. Price maybe a little bit expensive depending on how large of the portion of food that you take...

You can create your own Malatung or Ramen! A lot of ingredients to choose from in a big bowl. They will charge as per weight. After that you can choose sauce for soop! I selected Mushroom(Pilzen) sauce. They will cook for 10 mins. Toppings can be selected in the end - fried onions, crushed peanuts, seasme seeds, chilly oil, soya sauce and many other sauceschopped garlic, green onions, cilantro, Red chilly. You can enjoy it with a Matcha Latte or Bubble tea!

This restaurant is sooooo amazing. It's really a destination restaurant, it's really unique. Unlike other hot pot restaurants, you get to customize by the bowl, which makes it perfect for smaller parties or mixed dietary groups. They have lots of different vegetarian options and generally a large selection of toppings. And spicy really does mean spicy here! The staff were incredibly nice and will explain the system to you if it's your first time. When I was becoming a bit of mess at how spicy my soup was, they even noticed and brought me over extra napkins. All in all a wonderful experience!
